Speaker Alexander Lasheras
Alexander Lasheras is a filmmaker based in Vancouver, B.C., whose films often focus on themes of survivalism, resilience, and the fragility of life. As a proud member of the Métis Nation of B.C., he runs his production company, Soler Pictures, where he has led the creation of significant films such as The Beehive and Cadence, which received the ‘Audience Award’ at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2016.
His work has involved partnerships with Telefilm Canada, CBC Films, APTN and Hollywood Suite. Currently, Alexander is working on several projects supported by the Canada Media Fund. These include Wetiko, a psychological thriller series, and Lii Ptit Bonheur, a sci-fi thriller that reimagines Métis history within an alternate dystopian universe.
Alexander remains active in the film community, advocating for Indigenous representation in media and participating in key industry events.
