Maxine Bruce

Producer

Maxine began her career at age twelve, landing the role of Sarah Layton in the CBC biopic Jack—her first-ever audition. She has since worked across film, television, and media production, with acting credits including The Exorcism of Molly Hartley (Netflix) and the award-winning short Hard Way Girl, which screened at international festivals and earned her a Joey Award for Best Actress.

Behind the camera, Maxine has built a strong track record in casting, marketing, and project management. She was the social media assistant on the Government of Canada’s #SacredMMIWG campaign, which reached over 12 million Canadians and won two Shorty Awards for Human Rights and Social Justice. As casting director for the feature film Diaspora, she led a community-focused search involving speakers of 40+ languages; the film won Best International Feature (Kollywood Int’l), Best Cinematography (Wallachia Int’l), and screened at major festivals including Whistler and Festival du nouveau cinéma.

In 2023, she project-managed the launch of Manitoba’s first film props warehouse at Talon Production Services—an initiative supporting more sustainable and cost-effective local productions. After graduating with a degree in sociology and gender studies, she joined Harvest Manitoba as a development leader, writing funding applications with an 85% success rate, ensuring thousands of Manitobans access to vital food and resources.

Now, she’s returning to the media world with a renewed passion for telling original stories that inspire action, and finding the fun in everything.
