Executive Producer Moritz Polter launched Windlight Pictures in June 2021. The Munich based premium scripted label is part of the ITV Studios Group. Its first high-end drama is Night in Paradise, based on Frank Schmolke’s graphic novel and
adapted by Matthias Glasner and Hannah Schopf. Starring Jürgen Vogel and Lea Drinda, the series has been sold to numerous networks, including Canal+ and MagantaTV.
Windlight Pictures’ second series project, One Hundred and Thirteen, is set to premiere in autumn 2025. The six-part premium drama has been produced for WDR, ARD Degeto and ORF. It was written by Arndt Stüwe (Im Abgrund) and directed by Rick Ostermann (Das Boot). The ensemble cast includes Robert Stadlober, Anna Schudt, Armin Rohde, Max von der Groeben, Lia von Blarer, Patricia Aulitzky, Felix Kramer, Friederike Becht, Vladimir Korneev and Antonia Moretti.
Previously, as Executive Producer International Television Series at Bavaria Fiction, one of the most successful production companies in Europe, Moritz Polter led the creation, development and funding of international drama co-productions such as Freud (Netflix/ORF), Arctic Circle (Elisa Viihde/ZDF) and Deutsch-les-Landes (Amazon/MagentaTV).
Named among Variety’s Top 10 Global Creatives to Watch in 2018, award-winning Moritz Polter was lead Executive Producer on three seasons of Sky Studios’ critically acclaimed and award-winning high-end drama series Das Boot, starring Tom Wlaschiha, Lizzy Caplan, Ray Stevenson, Vicky Krieps, Joana Ribeiro, Franz Dinda, Anna Schudt and many more. In
addition to securing the financing of the series, Moritz has been heavily involved in all creative aspects of the series as non-writing showrunner. Sold to more than 100 territories worldwide, including Hulu in the US, Das Boot quickly became the most successful Sky original series ever for Sky Deutschland, as well as being the highest-rated launch of a non-Italian Sky original for Sky in Italy, and the most successful non-English Sky original series ever for Sky in the UK.
A Business, Media and Film Studies graduate of King Alfred’s College in Winchester and a true anglophile, Moritz Polter’s career has involved numerous creative collaborations in the UK. He was the producer of Tandem Productions’ drama Spotless, a Netflix Original in the UK, which was written by Ed McCardie, filmed in London and starred Brendan Coyle, Miranda Raison and Liam Garrigan among others. He also produced Kate Mosse’s Labyrinth starring John Hurt, Vanessa Kirby, Sebastian Stan, Jessica Brown Findlay and Tom Felton and was Production Supervisor on Ken Follett’s Primetime Emmy winning and Golden Globe nominated miniseries Pillars of the Earth starring Eddie Redmayne, Ian McShane, Hayley Atwell, Matthew Macfadyen and Sarah Parish.
Moritz Polter is a regular jury member of the International Emmy Awards and a frequent speaker at industry events.
